Six months with Chinese Evergreen — what I actually learned

I brought Chinese Evergreen home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding wiping dusty leaves with a damp cloth to improve light absorption — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.

I grow it in a plant shelf or bookcase as a green interior feature and the position has been ideal. straightforward propagation by division, cuttings, or offsets is what keeps drawing me back to it. minimal watering and no feeding through winter was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: overwatering causing yellowing leaves and root rot caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
