The unexpected joy of growing Thyme

I planted Thyme without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. dual purpose as ornamental plant and culinary ingredient is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.

I keep it in a kitchen windowsill close to the cooking area which is perfect for it. harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed was the thing I got lucky getting right early. peak harvest productivity through summer stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. root rot from overwatering in poorly drained pots is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
