Honest review: Thyme is rewarding but mint spreading invasively through garden beds is real
Thyme is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: mint spreading invasively through garden beds. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.
Beyond that, attractive to bees and other pollinators when in flower makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in an ornamental potager kitchen garden which suits it well. Learning about harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed has been essential. peak harvest productivity through summer is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
