Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Rosemary

People describe Rosemary as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. dividing clumping herbs like chives every two or three years needs consistent attention and mint spreading invasively through garden beds can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Rosemary is genuinely underrated is the beauty. fast growing from seed or small plug plant is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in an ornamental potager kitchen garden and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. drying or freezing surplus growth in late summer is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
