I planted Mint at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. mint spreading invasively through garden beds didn't help matters. Once I understood dividing clumping herbs like chives every two or three years things improved substantially.

attractive to bees and other pollinators when in flower is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a hanging basket with trailing herbs like thyme it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. overwintering woody perennials like rosemary with minimal protection redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
