I don't have a garden so a hanging basket with trailing herbs like thyme is my only option for Mint. It absolutely works — with the right attention to harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed you can get excellent results in containers.

dual purpose as ornamental plant and culinary ingredient is fully achievable even in a pot. peak harvest productivity through summer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: mint spreading invasively through garden beds. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
