Slow start but a stunning finish with Basil

The first few months with Basil were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting planting in free-draining soil in the sunniest spot right was the turning point.

aromatic foliage that intensifies in heat became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in an ornamental potager kitchen garden it gets the attention it deserves. drying or freezing surplus growth in late summer was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: mint spreading invasively through garden beds. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
