Honest review: Plum Tree is rewarding but late frost damage to blossom in exposed positions is real

Plum Tree is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: late frost damage to blossom in exposed positions. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, long productive lifespan of decades with good management makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination which suits it well. Learning about mulching around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds has been essential. harvest from late summer through autumn depending on variety is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
