Gift that became an obsession — Peach Tree
Someone gave me Peach Tree as a birthday gift and I barely knew what it was. Two years later it's my most treasured plant and I've spent more time researching it than I'd care to admit.
The key discovery was formative pruning in the first three years to build good structure — once that clicked, the plant transformed. dual ornamental and productive value in a garden is what gets mentioned every time anyone visits. I keep it in a sheltered south or west-facing garden wall as an espalier which works perfectly. winter pruning while the tree is dormant is when I understand why this plant has such devoted followers. late frost damage to blossom in exposed positions is the one ongoing challenge but it's worth the effort.
