I had a serious problem with codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest on my Lemon Tree earlier this year. Caught it late and had to work hard to bring the plant back. The experience was frustrating but educational.

Now that it's healthy again I can fully appreciate harvest of home-grown fruit with exceptional fresh flavour, which is remarkable. I've repositioned it in a large half-barrel container on a sunny patio and improved my attention to checking and adjusting tree ties and stakes annually. blossom opening in spring requiring frost protection was the proof that the plant had fully recovered — genuinely beautiful. Moral of the story: inspect regularly and catch problems early.
