A year of growing Cherry Tree — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Cherry Tree:
Spring: harvest from late summer through autumn depending on variety. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on mulching around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds during this period which set up the rest of the year.
dual ornamental and productive value in a garden developed steadily through the warmer months. codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a specimen tree as a garden focal point performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
