I planted Cherry Tree at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest didn't help matters. Once I understood thinning fruitlets in early summer to improve individual fruit size things improved substantially.

blossom spectacle in spring before any other ornamental value is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. blossom opening in spring requiring frost protection redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
