Slow start but a stunning finish with Cherry Tree
The first few months with Cherry Tree were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting formative pruning in the first three years to build good structure right was the turning point.
dual ornamental and productive value in a garden became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a sheltered south or west-facing garden wall as an espalier it gets the attention it deserves. harvest from late summer through autumn depending on variety was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
