As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Avocado Tree. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to mulching around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

I grow mine in a fan-trained shape on a warm boundary fence which is working really well. harvest of home-grown fruit with exceptional fresh flavour was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. fruitlet setting and development through summer has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
