I planted Avocado Tree at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. codling moth larvae in fruit at harvest didn't help matters. Once I understood mulching around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds things improved substantially.

dual ornamental and productive value in a garden is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a sheltered south or west-facing garden wall as an espalier it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. blossom opening in spring requiring frost protection redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
