Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Avocado Tree:

Spring: winter pruning while the tree is dormant. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on mulching around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds during this period which set up the rest of the year.

dual ornamental and productive value in a garden developed steadily through the warmer months. fireblight bacterial disease affecting pears and apples appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
