blossom spectacle in spring before any other ornamental value became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in an orchard with mixed varieties for cross-pollination it gets the attention it deserves. blossom opening in spring requiring frost protection was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: late frost damage to blossom in exposed positions. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
