Started Saguaro at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Saguaro at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. root rot from any waterlogging in winter didn't help matters. Once I understood providing the sunniest window or outdoor position available things improved substantially.
architectural sculptural form that needs no flowers to impress is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In an outdoor container brought in for winter it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. flowering in late spring to early summer redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
