Three things I wish someone had told me before growing Gladiolus

After growing Gladiolus for over a year here is what I'd tell a beginner.

First: planting at three times the depth of the bulb is not optional — it's the foundation everything else depends on. Second: narcissus fly larvae tunnelling into the base of the bulb will happen and you should know how to handle it before it does. Third: a formal bedding scheme for maximum visual impact genuinely matters — the right position unlocks wide range of flower forms, heights, and flowering times in a way a poor position never will. peak spring bulb display from tulips and daffodils is the payoff for getting all of this right. It's worth every bit of effort.
