Struggling with Asiatic Lily — would appreciate advice

I want to be honest: I'm not getting great results with Asiatic Lily and I'm not entirely sure why. squirrel and mouse predation on newly planted bulbs has been a recurring problem despite my attempts to address it. I've been focusing on leaving foliage to die back naturally after flowering based on everything I've read.

some of the earliest colour in the garden after winter is there in glimpses, which tells me the plant has potential in my conditions. I have it in a cut flower garden for fresh indoor arrangements which might not be ideal. earliest crocuses and snowdrops emerging in late winter showed some improvement. Two stars for now — not the plant's fault, but not a success yet. I'll update if things improve.
