The propagation success I didn't expect with Japanese Maple Bonsai
I started with one Japanese Maple Bonsai and now have four, all from propagation. The process is straightforward once you understand wiring branches during the growing season while wood is flexible — something I picked up from trial and error rather than any guide.
I display them in a Japanese-inspired garden display with gravel and stone which shows off living art form that reflects decades of patient cultivation at its best. vigorous growing season requiring wiring and pinching is when they're most impressive. over-wiring causing wire bite scarring on branches has been my main challenge across all of them, but it's manageable now that I know what to look for. A genuinely generous plant if you let it be.
