I planted Ficus Bonsai at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. drying out and death from missing a day's watering in summer didn't help matters. Once I understood watering daily in summer as bonsai pots dry out fast things improved substantially.

seasonal change including blossom, foliage colour, and bare winter silhouette is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a purpose-built outdoor bonsai bench with correct height it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. autumn colour on deciduous species before leaf fall redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
