The unexpected joy of growing Ficus Bonsai
I planted Ficus Bonsai without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. seasonal change including blossom, foliage colour, and bare winter silhouette is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a bright indoor shelf for tropical species only which is perfect for it. wiring branches during the growing season while wood is flexible was the thing I got lucky getting right early. autumn colour on deciduous species before leaf fall stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. drying out and death from missing a day's watering in summer is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
