People describe Chinese Elm Bonsai as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. styling with the front and viewing angle in mind from day one needs consistent attention and spider mite and scale in stressful growing conditions can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Chinese Elm Bonsai is genuinely underrated is the beauty. deeply personal relationship between artist and tree is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a dedicated display stand at eye level for appreciation and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. autumn colour on deciduous species before leaf fall is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
