Started Azalea Bonsai at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Azalea Bonsai at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. over-wiring causing wire bite scarring on branches didn't help matters. Once I understood wiring branches during the growing season while wood is flexible things improved substantially.
miniaturisation of full-grown tree characteristics is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a seasonal rotation on display when looking its best it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. vigorous growing season requiring wiring and pinching redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
