A year of growing Azalea Bonsai — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Azalea Bonsai:
Spring: repotting temperate species in early spring before buds break. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on watering daily in summer as bonsai pots dry out fast during this period which set up the rest of the year.
living art form that reflects decades of patient cultivation developed steadily through the warmer months. drying out and death from missing a day's watering in summer appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a Japanese-inspired garden display with gravel and stone performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
