Container growing Golden Bamboo — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a windbreak planting in an exposed position is my only option for Golden Bamboo. It absolutely works — with the right attention to feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser in early spring you can get excellent results in containers.
exceptional tensile strength in the cane structure is fully achievable even in a pot. foliage refresh as older leaves shed in late winter is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: die-back after mass flowering which occurs once per lifetime. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
