I planted Black Bamboo at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. yellowing leaves from drought or nitrogen deficiency didn't help matters. Once I understood feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser in early spring things improved substantially.

exceptional tensile strength in the cane structure is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a focal point specimen in a large container it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. best container division and replanting in spring redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
