Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Black Bamboo:

Spring: best container division and replanting in spring. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on removing the oldest and most congested canes each spring during this period which set up the rest of the year.

rapid establishment and fast vertical growth developed steadily through the warmer months. yellowing leaves from drought or nitrogen deficiency appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a poolside or water feature surrounding planting performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
