Arrow Bamboo is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: yellowing leaves from drought or nitrogen deficiency. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, rapid establishment and fast vertical growth makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a focal point specimen in a large container which suits it well. Learning about feeding with a high-nitrogen fertiliser in early spring has been essential. foliage refresh as older leaves shed in late winter is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
