Slow start but a stunning finish with Hornwort
The first few months with Hornwort were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting removing dying foliage in autumn before it rots and reduces water quality right was the turning point.
essential habitat and breeding ground for pond wildlife became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a stream edge or bog garden it gets the attention it deserves. first leaf pads emerging at the water surface in spring was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: root-eating by water lily aphids or china mark moth. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
