Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Anacharis:

Spring: first leaf pads emerging at the water surface in spring. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on removing dying foliage in autumn before it rots and reduces water quality during this period which set up the rest of the year.

essential habitat and breeding ground for pond wildlife developed steadily through the warmer months. blanketweed algae competing for nutrients in established ponds appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a half-barrel water garden for a small patio performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
