Container growing Tillandsia Ionantha — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a glass globe or terrarium with open ventilation is my only option for Tillandsia Ionantha. It absolutely works — with the right attention to misting more frequently in hot dry indoor conditions you can get excellent results in containers.
completely soil-free growth from atmospheric moisture and nutrients is fully achievable even in a pot. flowering triggered by lengthening days in spring or summer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: scale insects or mealybug in the leaf bases. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
