The unexpected joy of growing Tillandsia Caput-Medusae
I planted Tillandsia Caput-Medusae without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. flowers only once in a lifetime but produces offsetting pups after is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a wire frame or macrame hanging display which is perfect for it. soaking in water for 20 to 30 minutes once or twice a week was the thing I got lucky getting right early. reduced watering needed in cool winter months indoors stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. scale insects or mealybug in the leaf bases is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
