The soundtrack alone is worth the watch

Sword Art Online has one of the great anime soundtracks. The music elevates emotional scenes to something transcendent. the first arc's trapped-in-a-game tension is made three times more impactful by the score. Reki Kawahara clearly understood how music and image work together.
