The best Mandocas I've ever had came from a street stall, not a restaurant. The sweet-savoury from cornmeal base intensity was completely different — more direct and uncompromised. Queso de mano fresh cheese was used without hesitation, the way it should be.

the arepa is Venezuela's daily bread — eaten at all meals in countless configurations. The a family hallacas making session at Christmas setting meant eating standing up or on a low stool, which is how this food is supposed to be encountered. chicha de arroz was sold right next to it. Don't wait to find the 'right' restaurant. Find the street version first.
