Holiday memory — Mandocas that transported me back
I first ate Mandocas on a trip five years ago and have been searching for a version this good ever since. This restaurant finally delivered the sweet-savoury from cornmeal base quality I remembered. papelón brown sugar was handled correctly — something most restaurants here get slightly wrong.
the arepa is Venezuela's daily bread — eaten at all meals in countless configurations. It was the a Venezuelan diaspora restaurant abroad memory that I was really chasing and this recreated it. ron Santa Teresa rum was offered and brought the whole experience together. Some dishes are attached to a time and place. This one finally restored that attachment.
