Home cooking attempt — Boerewors from scratch
I spent an afternoon making Boerewors from scratch following a traditional recipe. Getting Mrs Ball's chutney right was the main challenge — it's not as straightforward as it looks. The spiced and savoury result was rewarding once I got it right.
Cape Malay cuisine reflects the heritage of enslaved people brought from Southeast Asia. I served it with Castle Lager as the recipe suggested and the pairing made sense. It took longer than I expected but the outcome was genuinely satisfying. Making Boerewors yourself gives you a new appreciation for what goes into it at a restaurant.
