Biltong for a dinner party — went down extremely well
I made Biltong for eight guests who had varying familiarity with the cuisine. Every single person asked for the recipe. The sweet-tangy from chutney profile was the main talking point — no one had quite experienced chakalaka relish used that way before.
the braai is a cross-cultural South African institution that transcends racial and social divides. I explained the a shebeen township tavern context as I served it which helped people appreciate it fully. Amarula cream liqueur was what I offered alongside and it worked perfectly. Excellent dinner party dish — impressive without being inaccessible.
