Some dishes exist to comfort and Roti Prata is absolutely in that category. The complex and fiery quality works on something almost primal — you feel the warmth of it immediately. coconut milk does work that no substitute can replicate.

the cuisine blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Peranakan traditions in a unique fusion. There's something about the a Michelin-starred hawker stall context that reinforces the comfort effect. bandung rose milk drink alongside is the traditional way and it makes complete sense. I come back to this dish when I need something dependable and restorative.
