I grew up eating Chicken Rice and have strong opinions shaped by memory. The version here triggered that recognition in the first bite — the richly coconut-sweet was right, lemongrass was handled the way it should be.

Singapore's hawker culture was inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2020. Growing up it was always a Michelin-starred hawker stall, which shaped my reference point entirely. teh tarik pulled tea alongside it is the only way it makes sense to me. It's hard to be objective about food you have emotional history with, but objectively: this is very good.
