Decent Borscht — nothing more, nothing less
Borscht at this place was fine. The subtly sour from fermentation flavour was there but not distinguished. sour cream smetana was present in the right quantities but without the care that makes the difference. You can taste when something is being made to a formula.
the Russian tea tradition using a samovar is centuries old and central to social hospitality. The a dacha summer kitchen setting was generic rather than immersive. black tea from a samovar was offered but not explained. If you're in the area and want Borscht it'll do. If you're going out of your way, look elsewhere.
