Honest verdict on Makowiec — good but not exceptional

Makowiec here was solidly made — tangy and hearty without anything to complain about. sour rye sourdough was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

Polish cuisine reflects Central European and Slavic agricultural traditions. The a home kitchen in winter atmosphere was pleasant enough. Polish beer was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Makowiec this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
