You can taste history in Ogbono Soup if you know what to look for. suya spiced meat skewers are eaten across West Africa but claim deep Nigerian roots. The deeply umami from fermented ingredients character reflects those layers — uziza leaves doesn't appear by accident; it came from a specific tradition.

The a Lagos buka local restaurant setting made sense of it. You understand the food differently when the context is right. Fanta orange alongside is part of that story. Some food is just fuel. Ogbono Soup, properly made, is something more. This version told the story well.
