Finding the best Akara in the city — a personal search
I spent three months trying every version of Akara I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled crayfish powder with genuine knowledge and the complex and robust result was noticeably superior.
suya spiced meat skewers are eaten across West Africa but claim deep Nigerian roots. The winning restaurant had the right a Lagos buka local restaurant feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. Chapman cocktail was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Akara is made properly it's a completely different experience.
