Honest verdict on Newari Khaja Set — good but not exceptional

Newari Khaja Set here was solidly made — hearty and filling without anything to complain about. mustard oil was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

dal bhat power for 24 hours is a trekking mantra reflecting how central the dish is to Nepali daily life. The a Kathmandu teahouse atmosphere was pleasant enough. nimbu pani was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Newari Khaja Set this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
