I spent three months trying every version of Satay I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled coconut cream with genuine knowledge and the richly spiced and coconut-sweet result was noticeably superior.

Penang is considered the food capital of Malaysia and rivals Singapore for hawker excellence. The winning restaurant had the right a Penang hawker stall feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. fresh sugarcane juice was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Satay is made properly it's a completely different experience.
