Underwhelming Escovitch Fish — expected more

I was looking forward to Escovitch Fish here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The rich and coconut-sweet character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with scotch bonnet or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

Jamaican jerk cooking traces to the Maroon communities who preserved meat with allspice and chilli. The a Kingston jerk pit setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. Red Stripe beer was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
