Holiday memory — Shakshuka that transported me back
I first ate Shakshuka on a trip five years ago and have been searching for a version this good ever since. This restaurant finally delivered the sesame-rich and nutty quality I remembered. tahini was handled correctly — something most restaurants here get slightly wrong.
Israeli cuisine is shaped by Jewish diaspora traditions from across the world fused with local Levantine ingredients. It was the a fusion restaurant mixing Mediterranean traditions memory that I was really chasing and this recreated it. Israeli wine was offered and brought the whole experience together. Some dishes are attached to a time and place. This one finally restored that attachment.
