I spent three months trying every version of Jachnun I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled pomegranate seeds with genuine knowledge and the bright and fresh with herbs result was noticeably superior.
Shabbat and holiday meals follow religious traditions that shape the food served. The winning restaurant had the right a Shabbat family dinner feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. Israeli wine was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Jachnun is made properly it's a completely different experience.
